Ravyn is being investigated for a laundry list of evil
deeds. Drug trafficking, money laundering, heck maybe even kidnapping if they
can build a solid case against her. She also had her now ex-husband try to kill
her. He is in jail but is saying she was the one in charge of the illegal
activities once her father died. It was either kill her or be killed. All of
that is not true but Ravyn can’t tell them the truth, of what she is really hiding.
She will go to prison to protect her secret, even if it breaks her heart to lie
to her ex-lover, the prosecutor on the case, Zane.
Zane has been assigned the case to try Ravyn’s ex-husband
with attempted murder. He is confident that charge will stick but there is so
much more that needs to be divulged. The attraction he has for Ravyn is
clouding his judgment but he knows she is lying to him. She knows more than she
is saying, so she must be guilty. When Zane’s family takes her in, allowing her
to stay at the ranch, and his brothers’ girlfriends befriend her, it frustrates
him even more. His legal career could be on the line if anyone found out she is
there. With his growing attraction and his primal need to want to protect and
own her, did he ever stand a chance of a life without her in it?
This is a series, and this review is for book 4. It was a
little confusing at the beginning, as I hadn’t read any of the other books.
After a few chapters, I was able to catch on and understand the story. The
camaraderie of the woman was so fun to read about. The book does have a few scenes
of the sub and dom relationship but it is not overdone. Good story, with a HEA,
although unanswered questions so there will be another in the series. 3.5 stars
