Now Live!

How much hurt can one love go through?

An ill mother, a devastating secret and depression. These are now daily battles Joanna Fuentes deals with.

She sat on the sidelines and watched her friends find love, even the ones who weren’t searching for it. J.C. was meant to be a distraction from her mother’s illness, something for fun to pass the time. She never expected him to be her happily ever after.

Jared Collins enjoyed the single life. Yes, he’d always had the hots for a fellow sailor and friend, Jo, but he never thought he’d act on those physical feelings. And he damn sure didn’t think she’d be a game changer when he finally gave into those feelings.

What started off as two friends and a couple drunken nights, escalated into something more; Love. But secrets, unspoken feelings and one huge fight has caused a riff in the once unbreakable friendship of J.C. and Jo.

Will J.C. be able to repair the damage not only to their friendship but also their future relationship? Is he able to be the man Jo needs to pull her out of the depths of despair she’s fallen into?

One thing is certain, it will take a resilient kind of love.

One thing is certain, it will take a resilient type of love.

What I loved:
Jo and JC’s Prologue was at the end of the previous book in this series, which struck a cord with me, immediately. I couldn’t wait to get this book. It was everything a romance book should be, and so much more.

Jo is a Navy girl but, her strength and bravery in her civilian life, shine brighter. She has some very serious situations that arise, along with caring for her sick mom. She spiraled down deep into a depression because some things she kept secret and dealt with on her own. Jo pulled away from her friends who were more like family. They worried, but JC was the only one holding the compass to her finding herself again.

JC has experienced loss. But he never shared that. When he realizes Jo is his due North, he does everything in his power to help Jo and pull her to the other side. Not only is he a man in uniform, but he knows how to treat her with care and love her.

The subject matters that are touched upon in this book, are ones that are hard to navigate. JC Santo managed to capture every emotion, but she also did it with integrity and grace.

Also, the sneaky twist at the end….BRILLIANT!!!

What I didn’t Love:
I didn’t love that you made me ugly cry, but I know why it had to happen.

Overall:
It was brutal beauty. It was a journey. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. This series has a surpassed just an ordinary military romance for me. It allows us to hope. It gives us a true sense of family, blood or not. And most of all, it epitomizing love conquering obstacles. I started this series from book 1 and will wait with baited breath for book 4. Over the course of the series thus far, JC Santo has found her voice, and has grown so much into her craft. It is a true joy to see unfold.
