Susan Birch has had a rough life. Her parents were killed when she was young and she lived with her grandmother, but when Susan was 10 years old, her grandmother passed away. She desperately wanted to stay and live with her neighbor and best friend Max but social services had a different idea. Even though the ladies for social services said they would be sure to keep Suzy and Max in touch, being bounced from different foster homes, they lost touch.
Waking from a dream, Susan is now remembering her young friend for the first time in 14 years.  Deciding to go to her grandmother’s home, the only real home she has ever known, she makes a plan to look up her old friend and see where and what he has been up to.
Max is thrilled to see the beautiful young woman walking down the beach toward him. He just knows it’s his Suzy and he has never completely gotten over the heartbreak of losing his best friend and first love. Their friendship starts to rekindle the love they still have for each other from all those years ago. But the past is hard to get over and one person cannot save another from their demons. Both will have to face their pasts and accept their failures before something can develop and turn into a strong relationship that will last forever.
