WARNING: Author believes in soul mates and insta-love, proceed with caution if you're not a romantic at heart.
Love's greatest cure is salvation of one’s soul.
Shane Sherman has a problem. Well, two, actually. One has auburn hair and pale-green eyes, and the other? . . . Is a secret. One he doesn't want to talk about. But all that changes when Sage comes to town.
Sage Sloan is being stalked. So she runs to Trails End and the bravest man her sister said she'd ever met. Sergeant Shane Sherman.
Sparks fly, tempers flare, and bears misbehave as Shane and Sage find a way to coexist in Trails End. That is, until a killer comes to call. Then all bets are off. Shane isn't about to lose his saving grace.

***I FREAKING LOVE THIS BLURB!!!*****

What I loved:
Shane took on a burden that wasn’t really his to bare. The way CP dives into the depth of his emotions, how she conveys them, and how Shane reacts is unbelievably real. It pulls you in. Traps you. And it doesn’t release until the time is right. Shane is drawn to Sage and always has been since he saw her in a photograph, but his demons force him to push her away.
Sage, for me, was everything a female lead should be. She was brave, decisive, and real. She took the experiences she had in her past and used them to teach herself how to protect her. Sage’s feelings are defined clearly and pretty early on. She knows her limits, but more, she knows that she needs to push Shane’s.
This book is rounded out with old friends, and some new relationships.
What I didn’t Love:
Sigh…OK I loved everything about tis book….except the fact that this was it for the series. I loved these characters so much and I need more time with them and in Trail’s End.
Overall:
You need to read CP Smith’s work. There is not one book of hers I didn’t love. She quickly became a go-to author for me. I immediately click her books and pre-orders when they are available. This book, A Reason To Live, competed this series and did it impeccably. This final installment rounded out the series perfectly. I loved how Smith used the titles of the other books in the series as dialogue.
Max:
“You don’t get this yet since you’re still pinin’ for a woman you can’t have, but when you’ve got a reason to breathe, a fuckin’ reason to live—you’ve got a reason to kill with absolutely no regrets.”
That was weaved in so exquisitely. Well done. Can’t wait to see what is in store next.
