AUTUMN RISING BANNER
Autumn Rising Blog Tour
Title: Autumn Rising
Author: Seth King

::Synopsis::
Autumn Mahal and Hank Basara know they should stay away from each other. Both recovering from the loss of a mutual friend, and each bearing scars of their own, they know their love would look like a worn cliché, a trite romance novel for teens, some crappy made-for-TV movie languishing on your great aunt’s DVR. But as summer gives way to September and flirtation leads to something deeper, they learn there are some types of love you cannot run from, no matter how hard you try to flee.
Hilarious, heartbreaking and hopeful, Autumn Rising is a novella about the happiness we ruin for ourselves, the truths we can’t hide with a filter, and that elusive and victorious moment when we let love rush in and carry us to the sky. In a world of constant TMI, prepare to feel a story worth sharing – a story that will stay with you long after the summer fades to autumn.

Reviewed By Kristi Lynn
Autumn Rising is the follow-up to Seth King’s The Summer Remains. In this book Autumn Mahal and Hank Basara are the focus. They each have their own scars and battles, and are both recovering from the loss of their very close friend. These two have an interesting relationship that definitely has love, but they fight like crazy. It appears Autumn is hell bent on pushing Hank away (her common defense mechanism). Can these two move past their hurt, struggles and mourning and find some peace and love with each other? Will Autumn succeed at pushing away one person she should be clinging to with all of her? Will Hank break through the barriers and walls Autumn has put in place?

I have to be honest I was not a huge fan of Autumn’s in book one, The Summer Remains. Those sentiments continued in this book. I found her character to be annoying, aggravating, melodramatic, and completely over the top. I empathized with her and what she has dealt with in her life, but I still could not find much I liked about her as a character. Hank was the complete opposite for me. I found his endearing, sweet, easy to like, love and root for. Throughout this entire book my one thought was his happiness. I wanted him to be happy and fine peace at whatever cost. Hank is a war hero and that immediately endears him to me. Beyond that though he is a good man. He is a good friend. He is a good person. His character was everything in this book for me. The message in this book is a powerful one. Sometimes we can’t ruin our own happiness. We can try and push people away and put up walls, but sometimes that happiness seeps in and decides to take up residency.

This is the second book I have read from Seth King and I find him to be an incredible writer. He has a unique approach to storytelling and certainly creates vivid images and feelings with his words. This book had several moments that made me chuckle or laugh to myself and I think that is important when writing about serious topics. Lightening the mood is an effective way to get a message across and Seth does that in spades with this book. Based on the message alone, I would recommend this book to others for sure. I give this book a solid 4 ½ stars.

The Summer Remains
Publication Date: February 14, 2015
*This is a full-length standalone romance*
Twenty-four-year-old Summer Johnson knows two things. The first is that due to a quickly worsening medical condition, she faces a risky surgery in three months’ time that may or may not end in her death. The second is that she would like to fall in love before then.
As spring sinks into her namesake season on the Florida coastline, Summer plays the odds and downloads a new dating app - and after one intriguing message from a beautiful surfer named Cooper Nichols, it becomes clear that the story of what may be her last few months under the sun is about to be completely revised. All she has to do now is write something worth reading.
Tender, honest, devastating and triumphant, The Summer Remains explores a very human battle being waged in a very digital age: the search for a love that will outlast this temporary borrowing of bones. The Goode Fight

:: Synopsis ::
THE THRILLING, EXPLOSIVE, AND PROVOCATIVE DEBUT FROM NEW ADULT ROMANCE AUTHOR SETH KING
In a stage of life when everything seems daunting, the fight to find love can still be the scariest thing of all – but in college senior Taylor Haney’s case, it may have just become downright deadly.
I’m bad – but I don’t want to be bad anymore.
In fact, leaving my Nashville life behind and swearing off love forever was the only thing keeping me from falling back into my old ways and fucking up again, and I was doing pretty well at pretending to be good – until I met Taylor Haney, that is.
Now I can think of nothing but Taylor. Her shy smile…the way she fidgets with her hands when she gets nervous…the sounds she makes when I tie her to my bedposts and go to town on her…the way I get a glimpse of eternity when I look into her hazel eyes…
And that little lovey feeling is the worst thing of all, because it means I’m breaking all my old rules now – and that means nobody is safe. Especially Taylor.
Because the last girl I fell in love with is currently lying in Brentwood Cemetery.

Where We Belong – Alabama Summer Series

Ben and Mia Kelly are back and I couldn’t be happier!! Life has gotten so busy for these two that between work, raising two kids, and opposing schedule they can’t seem to find any time alone with one each other. Their boys have become masters of cock blocking and interrupting any alone time Ben and Mia try and share. Their desire for one another is still off the charts, however the sexual tension and frustration are taking their toll on these two. Can a little creative planning allow them to get what they both crave and need? Will they continue to be thwarted at any attempt to keep the passion and amazing chemistry in their relationship alive?

When I heard J Daniels was giving us more Ben and Mia I was over the moon! I love these two characters. They make me laugh with their playful banter and how they egg each other on. Their sexual chemistry and desire for one another jumps off the pages and consistently makes me swoon. This is my favorite couple in the Alabama Series and I would read 100 books about these two. I am obsessed with Officer Kelly and he crept into my top five of book boyfriends, which is not an easy thing to do.

One thing I consistently do when I read J Daniels books is laugh. I am not talking a little chuckle, but laughing out loud with people looking at me like I am crazy. This book was no exception! I find it refreshing to see an author inject humor in her books, while addressing real life challenges and struggles that plague couples every day. J. Daniels does this while telling an amazing story that captivates you from the first page. Add amazing sex scenes that are off the charts smoking hot and I am sold!!  This was a quick read but gave me a lovely dose of Ben Kelly and for that I thank J.

I happily give this this book five stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a real story with lots of laughs, real life situations, and smoking hot sex.

Excerpt

Daphne—22
I sigh wistfully as I stare out the window of his big, black, Ford F-150. Not that there’s much to see, as everything is shrouded in darkness, but it relaxes me nevertheless. As I peer out at the shadows of trees, I playback the evening we’ve just had. It was a beautiful day for a wedding. I don’t usually care for such occasions, but this one I wouldn’t have missed for anything in the world. Avery was the perfect bride and her groom was a fine accessory.
I can’t remember the last time I went to a wedding. I know I’m at that age where a lot of my peers are choosing to say I do, but I run in a pretty small crowd. I’ve been lucky enough to avoid the monotony of marriage ceremonies. It’s not that I have anything against marriage—or even weddings—I was just never that girl who dreamed of my wedding dress before I got around to losing my first tooth. I’m not holding out for Prince Charming and I don’t fantasize about what I’d like my future engagement ring to look like. Of course, I won’t judge a girl for dreaming of those things, so long as she doesn’t judge me for not dreaming of them.
Some days I think I’d like to get married; though, I’m not sure if that’s a desire that was instilled in me as I grew up under my parents tutelage or if it’s something my heart truly longs for. I have my days when I think I’d be alright if I never got married—so long as the man I loved was still around to keep me company.
Or maybe that’s just me fooling myself into believing something that seems safer than the alternative—safer than the risk that if we were ever anything more, we might break. We’re already fragmented souls and the two of us together might never be able to make a whole.
Pushing such thoughts aside, I smile as my head fills with images of Trevor and myself out on the dance floor. He’s not a dancer. Not at all. It’s actually one of the few things he’s not good at. Who am I kidding? Neither am I. Yet, in spite of our lack of ability, we got caught up in the moment and we couldn’t help but join in on the revelry. Those newlyweds and their charm clearly cast a spell on both of us. I’m not complaining, though. I had a marvelous time.
“What are you thinking about over there?” he asks casually.
With my gaze still trained out the window I reply, “Just remembering. I had fun. Did you?”
“Surprisingly, yeah.”
His response makes my smile turn into a grin. Weddings aren’t his thing, either. Although, I think it has more to do with his lack of enthusiasm for suits than anything else. Even still, he got dressed up and accompanied me without any grumble. I think that makes me pretty lucky. I’m sure there are plenty of girls whose boyfriends wouldn’t be so accommodating; and yet, even without the title, he’s that good to me.
“Thank you. For coming.”
“You’re welcome.”

I'm a born and bred Coloradan. I will always claim that square state as my home! While I now reside in Virginia, the land of the Rocky Mountains is where I've left a piece of my heart and where my characters come to life. I'm a woman in love with love and filled to the brim with compassion for women like me, on a journey to find themselves in today's society. I aspire to inspire my readers to do more than settle. I hope that my writing will remind everyone that she (or he!) is valuable and worthy of the best kind of love--the kind that is gentle, patient, faithful, passionate, all consuming, never ending, and leaves you breathless.

Souls Unfractured – Hades Hangman Series 3

By Tillie Cole

Reviewed By Kristi Lynn

This book is about Maddie and Flame. Maddie was labeled a “cursed women of Eve” and has had a life filled with pain, suffering, and abuse in The Order. She is now living with the Hangmen and her sisters at their club compound. She is recluse and still suffering the memories of her past. Flame is the Hangman’s killer and has suffered greatly in his life. Flame is drawn to Maddie and watches over her and protects her with a fierceness she has never seen. Flame is consumed with rage and darkness and is unable to stand the touch of another person…until Maddie. An event triggers something in Flame and it is believed by all that he is lost and possibly too far gone to help. Maddie has other plans. Can these two broken individuals find a way to heal each other? Can Maddie and Flame get past the horrific events that shaped who they are today? Can they save each other and in turn find peace?

I could not wait to get my hands on this book and Tillie did not disappoint. This book took a hold of my mind and heart and brought out so many emotions from me. I was repulsed and shocked at the level of abuse both these characters endured and lived through. I was inspired by the strength and conviction of Maddie and Flame. I admired that they both could go through what they did and come out of those experiences. I was their biggest cheerleader that they could chase away the demons that haunted them and find some semblance of peace.

Maddie is a strong heroine and you can’t help but root for her to achieve all that she wishes and find peace, happiness and even love. Flame is one of the most tortured male leads I have ever read about. My heart broke for him quite literally. Flame was a man who was abused so badly and he was so complex. He has so much anger coursing through him, but he was soft, compassionate and dear I say sweet with Maddie.

This book was so very well written and will certainly go down as one of my favorite reads of the year. I like a book that packs a punch and this one did not disappoint. I was literally all over the place with my emotions and could not put this one down. This is a must read book and series in my opinion. It is gripping, raw, dirty, depraved, passionate, heart wrenching, etc. I loved the first two books in the series but this one was EVERYTHING for me. I can’t wait to see what is next from Tillie with regards to The Hangmen. I am sure she will bring it, but I think this girl I a #flamewhore for life!

I give this book a well-deserved 5 flames and would give it more if I could.

Review for The Jared Enigma - By Kristi Lynn

Jared Morgan is back for more delicious fun in the Jared Effect. Jared is the rock and roller with a penchant for being dirty, kinky, and taking exactly what he wants. Jared is a giver of sorts as he is looking to broaden the experiences of the woman he meets and ultimately beds. He is the nomad rock star who plays women like he plays his guitar. What will see from Jared this time around? Has he met his match and will he be played at his own game?
I read the Jared Effect (book one) and really liked and responded to Jared. After reading the Jared Enigma, I love the man and his dirty ways. His character was taken to a new level in this book and I couldn’t help but find myself wishing I could find my very own Jared. He is still dirty and takes what he wants without question, however he seems to have matured and I saw a somewhat softer, more caring side to Jared that brought him up notches in my book. Within this story you get three sexy tales of debauchery and sexy Jared fun. You will see Jared take what he wants while opening the eyes of a church fairing women whom he met at one of his concerts. Jared then will take on a rich society women and her bratty, conniving step daughter. Lastly Jared is reunited with “Red” for an unexpected day with the help of some of her friends.
Jake Malden is masterful in his story telling and he certainly raises the temperature with his books. This one was no different. The writing is superb, storytelling is epically done and the sex scenes are off the charts smoking hot! Jake paints a vivid picture with his words and brings his stories and characters to life. This book is packed with wicked sex so if you aren’t a fan of that, I would stay away from the book. If you are a fan of brilliant writing, with lots of naughty and wickedness, you will want to read this book. I have to admit the twist in this story threw me for a loop and I won’t go into details because I don’t want to spoil it. I did not love the twist part of the story if I am being honest. It was not how I love to see Jared. However with that being said it was still very well written and still extremely sexy and hot.
I would happily recommend this book to anyone and promise once you enter into the world of the Irish eroticist Jake Malden, you won’t want to leave. I happily give this book 5 stars, even though the twist was unexpected and I did not love it. The writing and story speak for themselves!
